Why the coverage ring follows the old housing
Boilers are not spread evenly around Allegheny County. They sit in the houses built before forced air took over, which in Pittsburgh means the city itself and the streetcar suburbs and river boroughs that filled in between about 1890 and 1940. Close to half of the city's homes were built before 1940, and the boroughs on these pages are older still on average: brick rowhouses, foursquares, duplexes and big Victorians, many of them still running the steam or gravity hot-water system they were built with.
So the service area is drawn around that housing rather than around a radius. Dormont and Bellevue are about 10 to 15 minutes from downtown. Mt. Lebanon, Brentwood, Wilkinsburg, Swissvale and Munhall are about 15 to 20. The Liberty Tunnel, the Fort Pitt and the river bridges can stretch any of those at rush hour or in a snowstorm, so the dispatcher gives you a real estimate when you call rather than a promise printed on a website.
Every City of Pittsburgh neighborhood
Pittsburgh itself does not have separate neighborhood pages here, because the homepage and the service pages are written for the whole city. That includes the densest boiler stock in the region: Squirrel Hill, Shadyside, Bloomfield, Lawrenceville, Highland Park, Polish Hill, Friendship, Point Breeze, Greenfield, Brookline, Beechview and every neighborhood in between. If you are inside the city limits, start with boiler repair in Pittsburgh or go straight to radiator repair or 24/7 emergency boiler repair.
